Regularly working in the following Cowra region:
Why did you decide to join Jim’s Pest Control?
I wanted to be my own boss and in charge of my own future and income, this is something I would never to be able to achieve working for someone else. I also wanted to build a great relationship with my clients over the years, but if I was working for another company then they would tend to send anyone to service clients.
What are your values?
To do good job and be a professional approach to the local country towns, if it is a problem then need to go fix it. I live locally so really understand the issues that country towns face and understand that sometimes it can be very difficult to get some help with pest control issues. I believe that just because we live in a country town or remote area there should be no reason why we can not get professional advice and treatments like people in the big smoke. I also believe in doing the job properly using the most up to date techniques and products to achieve the desired results for the clients.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to go fishing in my spare time in the local lakes are rivers and love to find some secret fishing spots that only locals know about.
What tips can you give to customers?
Please ask questions about the pest issues and how we can treat it. There is no such thing as a dumb or silly question and I am only to happy to discuss the treatment and also discuss things that you can do to help with the pest issues. I believe that if the client and I work together that we will be able to achieve their desired outcome. If you have found termites please ask as many questions as necessary to put your mind at ease.
What has been one of your most interesting jobs?
Had to move on some micro bats out of a roof void without killing them as they were a protected species. It was very interesting coming up with a solution that would get the desired outcome for the client and meant that I had to think outside of the box.
How has your franchise been for you since joining?
Tuff to start with but you have to make it your own. Jim’s gives a great brand name, but you need to put in the effort. I have used the brand name very well to open up doors that would have stayed closed if I was on my own. It has also meant I have been able to tender for large commercial contracts and it was good to be taken seriously due to the brand.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I really want to build up my business and would like for my son to take over from me in the future. I see this as a way of giving him a great start to life as he will be able to have job security while earning a great income and servicing some great clients.
Pest issues that you find in your area and unique content.
Termites are rife in the local towns, Cowra extremely bad for termites. In my local experience we find that 1 in 8 houses have termites. It is never a good conversation to let a client know that they have termites inside their home and the amount of damage I have found. I also find due to our rural setting that European wasps and spiders are big issues for our clients. Due to our slightly dryer and warmer climate, cockroaches are also a big issues for some clients. Over the past few years I am also seeing more call outs for millipedes and have several clients that said they can walk around their house without stepping on them.
